“外专千人计划”Michael D. Guiver教授应邀来重点实验室做学术报告

    3月21日上午,“外专千人计划”Michael D. Guiver教授应邀访问材料化学工程国家重点实验室,并在C501学术报告厅做了以“Fast CO2-selective aligned channels in mixed-matrix membranes”为主题的学术报告。报告由金万勤教授主持,实验室部分老师和研究生参加了本次报告。Guiver教授首先简单扼要地介绍了膜分离的研究背景以及混合基质膜的概念,进而阐述了一项基于纳米材料的有序排列来建立具有快速选择性气体传输通道的混合基质膜的工作。这项研究工作所制备的膜利用多孔聚醚砜基底作为支撑,采用带羧基的聚乙烯胺为聚合物连续相,高岭石作为无机的填充颗粒物来构筑上述所提到的快速气体通道。所制备得到的有效分离膜层厚度为100nm左右。对于这种有序竖直排列的膜层,其层间存在的羟基对于二氧化碳气体有亲和作用,从而促进二氧化碳分子的传递而阻碍一些如氮气、甲烷和氢气分子。这种膜的最佳气体通量可以达到800 GPU且同时对二氧化碳和其他气体分子的混合气具有高分离选择性,并在600小时的性能测试中保持稳定。Guiver教授的报告引起在场师生的浓厚兴趣,在互动交流环节中,他与在场师生就报告的相关问题进行了细致探讨。

附:Michael D. Guiver教授的个人简介:

Michael D. Guiver obtained his BSc (London University) and MSc (Carleton University) in Chemistry, and his PhD in Polymer Chemistry from Carleton University in 1988. He has been an Editor for the Journal of Membrane Science since 2009. He served on the Editorial Advisory Board for Macromolecules and ACS Macro Letters, American Chemical Society, from 2013-2015. He is also on the International Advisory Board of Macromolecular Research and on the Editorial Board of Polymers. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and is currently a member of the International Advisory Board of the Barrer Centre, Imperial College, UK. From 1987-2014, he was a scientist at the National Research Council Canada. In 2009-2013, he joined the Department of Energy Engineering at Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea as a WCU distinguished visiting professor, under the “World Class University” program. From 2013 onwards, he has been a BK21-Plus visiting professor at Hanyang University. He is now a National 1000-Plan Foreign Experts professor at the State Key Laboratory of Engines, Tianjin University, China. His ongoing research interests are in membrane materials, specifically polymer electrolyte membranes for fuel cell and battery applications and the development of specialized microporous polymers for gas separations.
Michael D. Guiver has published over 200 SCI articles in Nature, Nature Materials, Science, Progress in Polymer Science, Energy & Environmental Science, Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, AngewandteChemie Int. Ed., Chemical Communications, Chemistry of Materials, ChemSusChem, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Journal of Power Sources, Macromolecules, Journal of Membrane Science etc. He has authored 11 book chapters and holds about 25 patents and patent applications in the area of polymeric membrane materials.
